Atlanta Mold Inspections

Atlanta Mold Inspector.Air Allergen & Mold Testing’s mold inspections can identify visible and potentially toxic mold and make recommendations as to how to remediate the problem.

Air Allergen begins its investigation with a personal interview to learn as much about the circumstances surrounding the problem as possible. Next, a physical inspection is made to determine what caused the problem and what alternatives could remediate the situation. During the inspection, samples are often taken to answer questions that cannot be answered visually, such as what kind of mold is present and how many spores are in the air. The samples are sent to a certified nationally recognized lab for analysis.

When visible mold is present, it is almost certain that the mold is producing mold spores. The spores become airborne, and when inhaled, can cause distress in the respiratory system. Some spores are thought to create mycotoxins, which can cause permanent damage to the organs in the human body.

Although there are no federal guidelines for acceptable levels of indoor spore count, a number of associations and individuals have proposed ranges of acceptability. Air Allergen & Mold Testing, Inc. uses the California Healthy Buildings study to interpret results and determine recommendations.

While Petri dish samples, such as found in local home improvement stores, can identify mold types, they cannot determine the spore count. Other alternatives such as mold dogs or k-9 mold inspection can identify odors, but not spore counts or mold type. Spore count and mold type is vital to determining how much remediation is necessary without unnecessary expense.

Once the inspection is complete and the results of the sampling are known, Air Allergen & Mold Testing will make recommendations as to how to remediate the spore count and the problem that caused the mold issue to occur. While it is possible to get the home to clean room status, it more practical to do only what is necessary to get the spore count to healthy levels. Air Allergen can help you determine what is necessary for your situation.
